2011-2012 Playoffs
The possible
dates for the 2011-2012 season playoffs are from March 9 to 22
inclusive. Hockey Edmonton schedules the playoffs so schedules will be
found on the Hockey Edmonton website as soon as they are available.
2011-2012 Tax Receipts
Tax
receipts were emailed out to the primary email address for each family
on January 26, 2012 adn again on February 9, 2012. If you have checked all emails and Junk Mail
folders, please email Melissa at registrar@confedhockey.org to request
a duplicate be emailed to you.

Christmas Tournament Schedule Changes and Updates
December 19: Due to the withdrawal of a team who didn't have enough EMHA IPRP points to get a travel permit,
there have been schedule changes in the ATOM division. The tournament
groups that were affected are the RANGERS group and the KNIGHTS group. There is
now no longer a RANGERS tournament group, and the number of teams in the KNIGHTS
group has increased. The teams affected are:

Christmas Tournament Registration Now Complete
As of November 15, the 2011 Confederation Hockey Christmas Tournament has reached
our limit of 200 teams! Thank you for your interested and participation!
Confed Picture and Confed Wear Days!
All teams will have their pictures taken on Saturday, October 15 or Sunday, October
16. Team Managers will be booking a team that works for your teams ice times. We
will also have our Confed Wear line available for cash and carry purchase this year.
Quantities are limited. Your Coach or Team Manager will have more details for you
at the beginning of the season!
2011-12 Confed Club D Program
All members from IN 2A to Peewee would have received an email September 14 with
our NEW Club D Program for 2011-12! Spots are already filling fast! Please see the
Coach and Player Development for more information. Registrations for the Paid Program
are accepted on a first come first serve basis by submitting a registration form
to registrar@confedhockey.org . Continue to watch your email for the FREE Special
Sessions that will be throughout the year - they will also be filled first come
first serve.:

Referee Clinics
It is that time of year again! The Referee Clinics will be held September 17 and
18. There are a maximum of 30 spots per class so register soon by going to:

All SWZ Power Skating sessions are filled.
2011-2012 Registration!
The Online Registration for the 2011-2012 Season is closed as of September 7! Follow
the links on our Registration page. All In Person Registration Dates have
passed. You can still register by paper. . You may also drop your completed
registration off at the Confed mailbox at 3708- 118 ST NW. The deadlines for
Returning Player Registration (registrations August 1 will have a late fee applied)
and Tryouts Applications (for Atom 1 and PW AA) was July 31, 2011. Any questions

2011 Casino Dates
Confederation Hockey has just received the following Casino dates: September 12-13,
2011. We are looking for any volunteers who would be willing to help us out on one
or both dates. Not only is this a quick and easy way to help our hockey club raise
money, but it is also a great way to meet parents of other Confederation Hockey
players. If you can help us out on one or both of our casino dates, please contact
our Casino coordinator by clicking gate io.
Confederation Hockey AGM
The Confederation Hockey AGM was held at 7:30pm on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the
Confederation Arena Meeting Room. A BIG THANK-YOU to those parents that attended!
Congratulations!
The Western Bantam AAA Championships were held in Winnipeg this past weekend (April
7 - 10). The SSAC Southgate Lions team placed third! Congratulations to the team
and especially those kids that have been part of the Confed program - Erik Donald,
Matt Bruyer, Kyle North, Brock Rezansoff, and Matt Encarnacao!
Volunteer Appreciation!
We would like to say a BIG THANK-YOU to the many, many volunteers that stepped up
this year - Board Members, Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Managers and the list goes
on! We would also like to thank the parents for getting the players to all the icet
imps throughout the year. We couldn't do it without all of you!
2010-2011 Coach and Club Evaluations
Thank you to the many parents that completed the 2010-2011 Coach and Club Evaluations
this year! We will be compiling the information and providing the Coaching staff
of each team (IN 2A to Bantam) with feedback. We have also read each and every submission
and will consider the feedback regarding the Club in our plans for next year.

Concussions in Minor Hockey
For the second year, Confederation Hockey has agreed to work with the University
of Alberta in the evaluation of new tools which are used to assess concussions in
sports and to provide educational opportunities to increase understanding about
sports related head injuries. Your participation in the research component of our
collaboration is voluntary and is targeted to Bantam and Peewee players. For the

Former Confed Hockey Player Drafted by Black Hawks!
Kent Simpson, a former (and outstanding) Confederation Hockey, SSAC, and WHL goalie, was recently drafted in the second round to
the Chicago Blackhawks! We wish Kent well, and we look forward to watching him in

Coaches Roundtable and Information Session
Club Development will continue to host Coaches Round Table discussions in 2010-2011.
The sessions are informative and give coaches a chance to both ask questions and

Helmets Now Mandatory For On-Ice Personal
Hockey Alberta announced on November 6, 2008 that any coach, trainer, assistant
coach, guest coach, or volunteer who is on the ice must wear a CSA approved helmet
with the chin strap of the helmet securely fastened. This is mandatory and effective
immediately.

Confederation Hockey is one of the largest minor hockey clubs in Edmonton, serving Southwest area communities with over 50 teams in the Initiation 1A, Initiation 2A, Novice, Atom, PeeWee, and Bantam categories.
Our mission is to provide a quality hockey program for youngsters ages 4 to 14, that emphasizes basic hockey skills, and personal development and life skills, including effective work habits, thinking skills, positive self-esteem, teamwork, fair play, discipline, fun and enjoyment of the game.
